Missiti Goes Yard But Eagles Drop Both Games In Doubleheader To Charleston

Game One

W: A. Henrich (1-0), L: A. Sypher (0-1)

Arik Sypher got the start in the first game of the doubleheader for the Eagles. Sypher pitched 5.1 innings, allowing nine hits and six earned runs while striking out seven batters. 

Charleston jumped on the Eagles for three first inning runs and one run in second, giving them an early 4-0 lead. 

The Eagles big bat, Rosario Missiti, put Post on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run homer (1), scoring Tyler Melko. Post added another run in the fourth to make the score 4-3 when Nick Gaskin scored on a wild pitch. 

Charleston would tack on three more runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 7-3.

Charleston starting pitcher Austin Henrich used 69 pitches in a seven inning complete game performance, allowing only four hits while striking out six batters and walking three. 

Game Two

Post jumped ahead early when Tyler Melko's first inning RBI double knocked in Nicholas Gastin

Charleston answered Post's first inning run with one of their own in the bottom half of the opening frame, tying the game at 1-1. 

Charleston put up four runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 4-1 lead with the help of two extra base hits. 

Melko delivered his second RBI hit of the game in the sixth, this time a single knocked in John Cartagena to bring the score to 5-2. 

Charleston starter Jack Brunetti pitched a solid six innings, surrendering five hits to the Eagles and striking out six.
