Shelton, Conn. – Freshman Natalie Sammons scored her first career goal, but the Post University women's hockey team lost 7-1 to Sacred Heart in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) match on Saturday afternoon.
With the Eagles down 2-0 in the second period, Sammons took a pass from classmate Jenna Abeyta to cut their deficit in half.
The Pioneers, however, would score the final five goals, including two of those coming from Anna Klein. Victoria Grimmer also added two goals for the Pioneers.
The Eagles now sit at 6-13-0 overall and 1-11 in NEWHA play.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Daly finished with 55 saves in net for the Eagles.
The Eagles will be off until January 4 where they will take on Wesleyan on the road at 3 p.m.
