Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team held a two-goal lead early but fell to Anna Maria, 6-3 in a non-conference game at The Rinks at Shelton on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, senior Tyler Hackett got the Eagles on the board at the 3:39 mark as he rebounded a shot from William Francis and put it past Anna Maria goalie, Julius Huset to give Post the 1-0 lead.
Post's next goal would be on a power play at 8:08 when junior Anthony Giacomin took a pass from the left side from Hackett right and front of the net and poked it in for a 2-0 Eagles lead.
However, the Amcats would score the next six goals in the second period, all on power plays, taking the lead at the 12:29 mark. Jack Sitzman, who started the rally had a hat trick in the rally, scoring the first, fifth and sixth goal for Anna Maria in the period. He also had an assist.
Junior Sean Castagna would score his first goal on a one timer from junior Jake Raleigh to make it a 6-3 game at the 15:21 mark. It was the second power play goal of the game for Post.
Junior Nick Levesque finished with 37 saves on the day.
The Eagles won 49 of 77 faceoffs, with Hackett leading the way with 13 faceoff wins.
The loss puts the Eagles at 2-7-1 on the season.
Post will be off for a month before returning on January 7 when they take on Saint Michael's on the road at 7 p.m. in an NE10 game.
