Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Boissard Scores 17, But Second Half Rally Falls Short For Men’s Basketball In Loss To Caldwell

Caldwell, N.J.  – Senior Savion Boissard was one of five Post University men's basketball players in double figures with 17 points, but the Eagles second half rally fell short in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener against Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.

Post fell behind 26-16 at the 7:31 mark in the first before going on a quick 10-0 run to tie the game at the 5:34 mark. Senior D.J. Jarrett and junior Jonathan Duvivier hit a three and sophomore Devonte McCall threw down a dunk to tie the game.

Caldwell briefly took a 31-29 lead, but five straight points from Senior Marcus Johnson gave Post its first lead of the game at 34-31 at 3:30 in the half.

Post extended its lead to six points at 38-32 before Caldwell rallied to tie the game at 40-40 at halftime.

McCall scored ten of his 15 points in the half, while the Eagles shot 6-for-13 from three and grabbed 11 offensive rebounds.

Caldwell (5-4, 2-1 CACC) shot lights out over the first ten minutes of the second half, taking a 65-50 lead at the 9:28 mark behind 11 points from Eric Johnson-Alford during the stretch.

Boissard would help rally the Eagles, scoring eight points during the run as they eventually cut the deficit to two points at 83-81 after a three from McCall. But Caldwell's Vaughn Covington hit a free throw and the Eagles were unable to get a shot off at the buzzer.

Johnson finished with 13 points, Jarrett had 11 on 3-for-7 shooting from three and sophomore Abdul-Basit Ajia had ten points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

The Eagles (5-3, 0-1 CACC) bench outscored Caldwell's, 26-10 behind Jarrett and Ajia. The Eagles grabbed 22 offensive rebounds, leading to 19 second chance points.

Johnson-Alford had 29 points and ten rebounds for Caldwell. Anthony Cooper scored 16.

The Eagles will host Saint Michael's at 1 p.m. on December 15 in their next game.
