Six Score In Double Figures As Men’s Basketball Pulls Away From No. 20 Saint Anselm In Non-Conference Win

Waterbury, Conn.  – Six Post University men's basketball players scored in double figures as the team used an explosive second half to defeat  No. 20 Saint Anselm, 88-75 in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening at the Drubner Center.

Sophomore Devonte McCall led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds, while D.J. Frechette had 15 points.

After the Hawks took a three-point halftime lead at 44-41, the Eagles opened up with a 12-6 run to go up 53-50 at the 15:39 mark. Junior Darrick Boyd hit a three and a jumper to help the Eagles during the run.

The Hawks would regain its lead, taking a 63-61 advantage at the 9:21 mark before a layup from Abdul-Basit Ajia and a three from Boyd gave the Eagles the 66-63 lead at the 8:26 mark in the second half.

The Eagles extended its lead to 78-67 after a jumper form junior Jonathan Duvivier at the 2:59 mark. The Hawks would cut the lead to 78-74, but four points each from Frechette and Duvivier closed the game out for the Eagles.

In a close first half, the Eagles hit four of their 16 attempts from three, including two each from Duvivier and senior D.J. Jarrett.

The Eagles led by as much as ten points in the first half after going on a 15-5 run early on. Duvivier hit two threes and Jarrett hit one during the run to give Post the 27-17 lead at the 12:51 mark.

Saint Anselm took its first lead eight minutes later after going on an 18-6 run over the next six minutes. The Hawks would hold on to the lead and take a 44-41 lead going into the half.

The Eagles grabbed 12 offensive rebounds on the evening, leading to 15 second chance points. Duvivier finished with 14 points off the bench, while Jarrett finished with ten. Boyd had 14 points and six rebounds.

Post will open up its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule at Caldwell on December 7 at 3 p.m.
