Waterbury, Conn. – Led by 15 kills from senior Shannon Veale and ten blocks by classmate Ann Marie Nelson, the Post University women's volleyball team defeated Dominican, 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-13) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday afternoon.
It was the Eagles second straight win, as they swept the Chargers in the season series.
The Eagles never trailed at any point in any of the sets.
In set 1, the Eagles jumped out to an early 10-3 lead and only extended it from there. Veale had five of her kills during the opening stretch, setting the tone for the rest of the set. Dominican never got any closer than six the rest of the way, and the Eagles closed out the set on a 6-0 run as freshman Jayda Roman and senior Nelson each had kills in the final run.
Set two mirrored the first as the Eagles went on a 13-4 run to open up. Three different Eagles had a kills during the run as Veale (two), freshman Aniya Goodman and senior Michelle Stublarec each contributed to the run. Again, the Eagles would close out the set in impressive fashion as they finished on a 5-0 run. The last point on another kill from Veale.
Again the third, the Eagles opened up another 13-4 run as sophomore Cassidee Knox had three straight aces during the run to go along with kills from Roman, Stublarec, Veale and Goodman. Post would score five of the last six points of the set, again ending on a kill from Veale. Stublarec had five of her eight kills in the set.
Junior Elizabeth McGrath had 20 assists for the Eagles. Roman led the Eagles with eight digs. Nelson now leads the CACC in blocks per set at 1.11.
