Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team scored a goal with one second left in the first half, and added two more in the second to defeat the Felician Golden Falcons, 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
The win clinched second place for the Eagles in the CACC regular season. They will host a first round game on November 11 at 2 p.m. The opponent is yet to be determined. They finished the regular season at 11-3-3 and 8-2-2 in the CACC.
With the Eagles down 1-0 and the half coming to a close, freshman Antoine Trifonov rushed to his corner kick and put it into the box and sophomore Michele Venditti put it home with one second remaining to tie the game 1-1 going into the break. It was Venditti's first goal of the season.
The beginning of the second half was scoreless until Francesco Perienelli found the net from 30 yards out after a pass from freshman Felix Hjertqvist who had the ball fed to him by Trifonov.
The Eagles would tack on insurance in the 83rd minute, as junior Alvaro Sanchez took a sliding pass from sophomore Sergio Sanchez and put the ball into the low right corner from the left side for the final tally.
The Eagles outshot Felician, 20-1 on the day, with junior Sergio Diaz leading the way with five.
