Wilmington, De. – Alvaro Sanchez broke a scoreless tie in the 74th minute to help the Post University men's soccer team defeat the Goldey-Beacom Lightning in an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Saturday afternoon.
With the game knotted at 0-0, Sanchez took a cross from sophomore Phillimon Bedard-Khalid and headed it past the outstretched arm of Cole Lewis to give Post the 1-0 lead. It was the lone shot on goal for the Eagles during the defensive tilt and the 11th goal of the season for him.
Jordan Brown stopped both shots the Lightning put on net.
Post - the ninth ranked team in the East Region in the latest NCAA poll - is now 10-3-3 overall and 7-2-2 in the CACC. They sit in third place with 23 points. The top four seeds will host a first-round game in the CACC Tournament.
