Men’s Hockey Falls To SNHU In Pair Of NE10 Matches

Shelton, Conn. – Sophomore John Krapian scored two goals over the weekend as the Post University men's hockey team dropped two games to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), 5-3 and 10-4 in a pair of Northeast10 matches on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

On Friday, after falling behind 2-0 midway through the first period, the Eagles got on the board with an unassisted goal from Tyler Hackett to make it a 2-1 game.

The Penmen scored the next three goals before the Eagles tried to mount the comeback as Krapian took a rebound from a shot by junior Jake Raleigh to make it a 5-2 game at 4:38 in the second. At the 8:03 mark in the second, sophomore Michael Karas cut the deficit to two on a wrist shot that got past goalkeeper Kurt Gutting thanks to a screen from sophomore Niko Grollman. No one scored in the third.

Junior Brandon Brown stopped 31 shots on the night.

On Saturday, the Eagles led twice in the first period, starting with a power play goal from Krapian on a deflection off a shot from senior Lucas Smith to make it a 1-0 game early on at the 2:15 mark.

After the Penmen tied it just over two minutes later, sophomore Harrison Sheldon scored his first goal of the season on an unassisted goal to make it 2-1.

The Penmen would score the next four goals to make it a 5-2 game before junior Evan Lugo scored his second goal of the season on a wrist shot in the slot off a pass from Smith to make it a 5-3 game.

However, the Penmen scored the next five goals to put the game away. Senior Noah Wild would tack on a goal at 11:02 in the third.

Up next, the Eagles play at Albertus Magnus on Monday at 5 p.m.
