Hailey’s Comets: McGee Scores Hat Trick, Asamoah Scores Late Winner As Women’s Soccer Beats Concordia

Win Streak Reaches Four

Waterbury, Conn. – Freshman Hailey McGee scored a hat trick, including two absolute strikes from distance and classmate Lydia Asamoah scored the game winner in the 88th minute as the Post University women's soccer team defeated Concordia, 4-3 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

It was the fourth straight win for the Eagles, who are still unbeaten in CACC play at 4-0-1. They are 4-3-2 overall.

With the Eagles down 1-0, McGee got her scoring going in the 40th minute. On a restart, senior Samantha Brostek passed it to junior Fitore Kllobocishta who popped the ball 20 yards over the defender's head to McGee, who chipped it over goalkeeper Meagan Meuwiesse's head to tie the game at 1-1.

Concordia would score in the 41st minute on Leigh-Ann Ramsey's second goal of the game and go in the half up, 2-1.

After using her finesse to score her first goal, McGee used her power to score the second goal, taking a pass from Kayla Agnosistelli off a Concordia goal kick, dribbled five yards down the right sideline and struck it 25 yards off the outstretched arms of Meuwiesse, rattled off the post and crossbar and into the net to make it a 2-2 game.

Concordia's Morganne Cartee would give Concordia the lead for the third time on a 73rd minute on a free kick before McGee's and Asamoah's late game heroics.

After a foul in the 84th minute, McGee took a free kick from 40 yards out, again out of the reach of Meuweisse to tie the game again, at 3-3.

With the game looking destined for overtime in the 88th minute, Asamoah took a throw in from Klllobocishta and took a shot from 20 yards out on the left side, out of the reach of Meuwiesse to give Post its first lead, and the lead for good at 4-3. It was Asamoah's sixth goal of the season.

The Eagles outshot Concordia, 17-6.

Up next, the Eagles host Chestnut Hill at 11 a.m. on October 12 at LaMoy Field.
