Philadelphia, Pa. – Senior Shannon Veale had 11 kills and nine digs in a women's volleyball loss to Holy Family, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-21) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.
The Eagles (0-17, 0-6 CACC) held a 10-3 lead in the final set as senior Michelle Stublarec had two kills during the stretch to give Post its biggest lead of any set. With the Eagles up, 12-7 the Tigers went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-12 lead, but Post scored the next three points to take a 15-14 lead thanks to two attack errors by Holy Family and a kill from Veale. Holy Family would score the next three points and hold off a potential comeback from the Eagles.
The Eagles scored the first five points in set two, thanks to four attack errors by Holy Family. After the Tigers tied the set at 5-5, Post regained the lead on a kill from Veale, and extended its lead to 7-5. The teams exchanged leads three more times, but the Tigers finished the set on a 6-0 run to go up 2-0.
In set one, the Eagles fell behind 16-10 before closing the deficit to 17-16 as Veale had three kills during the stretch, but the Tigers scored eight of the next 11 points to go up, 1-0.
Stublarec finished with three kills. Freshman Keyah Sinclair had four blocks. Classmate Kim Buttery had 18 assists and eight digs.
Carly Covington led Holy Family with 20 kills.
The Eagles will host Caldwell on October 8 at 7 p.m.
