Orangeburg, N.Y.– A direct kick goal from junior Sergio Diaz gave the Post University men's soccer team a 3-2 (2OT) win over Dominican in an exciting Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday afternoon.
After a foul in the 107th minute, Diaz ripped a shot past Dominican goalkeeper, Tyler Doll giving the Eagles the dramatic 3-2 win. It was Diaz's 12th goal of the season.
Post took an early two goal lead as junior Alvaro Sanchez rebounded a shot from Diaz and score his ninth goal of the season in the 32nd minute.
Shortly thereafter in the 40th minute, Post went up 2-0 as junior Matteo Guagliardo took a pass from freshman Giorgio Scarpecci and took a shot from the left side past Doll. It was Guagliardo's first goal of the season.
Dominican, however, would get two goals from Maximino Casares Martinez in the 53rd and 81st minute to the game. The second goal came on a penalty kick.
The Eagles now sit at 8-2-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the CACC and sit in third place.
Post outshot the Chargers, 21-17, including a 9-2 edge in the two overtimes. Diaz finished with five shots on goal.
In goal, sophomore David Mollenthial finished with 6 saves.
Up next, the Eagles will take on Holy Family at LaMoy Field on October 26 at 3 p.m.
