Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Second Half Goal From Alvaro Sanchez Lifts Eagles Over Bloomfield; Remains Undefeated In CACC

Waterbury, Conn. – A goal from junior Alvaro Sanchez in the 49th minute was the difference as the Post University men's soccer team won its fifth straight game, a 2-1 victory over Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles – who are ranked sixth in the East Region - have won five straight matches, and are 5-1-1 on the season and 3-0-0 in the CACC.

The goal from Sanchez came on a beautiful cross by sophomore Francesco Perienelli inside the box that Sanchez easily struck by Bloomfield goalkeeper Jomar Vizcaino.

It was the fifth goal of the season for Sanchez, who is tied with teammate, junior Sergio Diaz for the team lead.

Diaz scored his fifth goal of the season in the first half on a penalty kick in the 38th minute after a foul inside the box.

Bloomfield would tie it right before the half in the 43rd minute on a goal from Dilan Perrin off a pass from Warwick Stirling.

The Eagles outshot Bloomfield, 19-4, with seven of those shots on goal. Diaz had a team-high ten shots.

The Eagles now lead the all-time matchup against Bloomfield, 10-6.

Up next, the Eagles take on Wilmington, the third ranked team in the East and first place team in the CACC on the road on October 5 at 2:30 p.m. on the road.
