Shelton, Conn. – Freshman Catherine Proulx scored her first goal of her career, but the Post University women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Saint Michael's on Friday night at The Rinks At Shelton in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance match.
With the Eagles down 1-0 late in the second period, Proulx took a pass off the board from senior Kendall Fitzgerald and skated down all alone to put a point blank shot past Purple Knights goalkeeper, Vika Simons to tie the game up at 1-1 at 18:40 in the period.
However, in the third, St. Michael's scored on a power play as Arianna Boscia scored her first goal of the season off of an assist from Alissa Sullivan and Maddie Gervais.
Senior Jenna Baumgartner was stellar in net in the tough luck loss, stopping 40 shots. The Eagles took 40 shots of their own, with Freshman Madison Turley leading the way with seven. Turley was 18-5 in her faceoffs, to lead the Eagles as well.
The two teams meet again on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. It will be the Breast Cancer Awareness game for the Eagles.
