Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Upset Special: Women’s Soccer Takes Down No. 5 SCSU; Win Sixth Straight

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's soccer team took down one of the top teams as it defeated No. 5 in the East Region, Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

It was the sixth straight win for the Eagles, which makes it the longest win streak in program history. The Eagles are now 6-3-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)

Freshman Hailey McGee – the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player and Rookie of the Week – was the hero again, scoring in the 81st minute, as she took the ball, dribbled five yards and blasted one of her patented long range strikes from 25 yards out, giving the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

McGee now has five goals on the season and has scored in three straight games.

It was also the program's first win over the Owls.

The Eagles defense was tough, allowing just two shots on goal, with junior Imelda Lazaro stopping both.

Up next, the Eagles – in fourth place in the CACC - play at Georgian Court on October 19 at noon in a CACC game. The Lions currently sit in second place.
