Boulay Has 18 Digs In Women’s Volleyball Loss To Jefferson

Waterbury, Conn. – Junior Suzy Boulay had 18 digs, and Jayda Roman had 11 kills, but the Post University women's volleyball team fell to Jefferson, 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

In the third set victory, the Eagles recovered from an early 4-0 deficit to tie the game, 7-7. Senior Michelle Stublarec had two kills during the stretch. Jefferson would hold on to a small lead throughout the next 20 points, until the Eagles took their first lead of the set at 19-18. The two teams tied again at 22-22, but the Eagles scored the next three points, two of those on kills from senior Ann Marie Nelson and Stublarec. Both of the kills were assisted by junior Elizabeth McGrath.

The first set saw the Rams take an early 6-2 lead, and hold onto it the rest of the way. Nelson and Aniya Goodman each had two kills in the set.

While down 9-7 in set two, the Eagles rattled off nine straight points to take a 15-9 lead as Nelson and Stublarec had four of the five kills for the Eagles. However, the Rams closed with a 16-6 run, including a stretch of six straight points to take the 2-0 lead at the time.

After falling behind 22-12 in set four, the Eagles made their best effort to steal it away from the Rams, going on an 8-1 run to cut the deficit to 23-20. Roman had four kills during the rally. But the Rams scored the final two points to take the match.

McGrath finished with 37 assists. Veale had nine kills and 14 digs. Freshman Kim Buttery also had 14 digs. Stublarec finished with ten kills.
