Rogers Drops 33 In 100-94 OT Loss To Wilmington

WATERBURY, Conn. - Tyshon Rogers (33 pts, 12 reb) and Marcus Johnson (17 pts, 10 reb) both recorded doubles-doubles but were unable to overcome 79 combined points from Wilmington's Thomas Farrior (31), Jermaine Head (25) and Jordan Harding (23). 

The Eagles jumped out to an immediate 10-0 run to start off the game. A high scoring first half (85 combined points) saw 13 combined 3PT shots made but a surprising five attempted free throws, including zero from Post. The first half saw the Eagles hold two separate 12 point leads. The Wildcats cut the lead to two points with under 30 seconds left. D.J. Jarrett hit a last second three-pointer to give Post a 45-40 lead going into the break. 

The second half belonged to Tyshon Rogers, who scored 24 points (9-16 FG, 4-8 3PT), including 16 of the Eagle's final 22 points of the game. 

The final two minutes of the game saw two big baskets made. The first came from Tamas Okros (8 pts, 5 reb) at the 1:37 mark to put Post up 89-87. Xavier Alston (5 pts, 8 reb) then converted on a layup at the :54 second mark to tie the game at 89-89, which is how regulation would end.

Post went 2-12 from the field and 1-10 from deep in OT. Wilmington shot 3-7 from the field in overtime but were able to convert on 5-8 free throws to help secure the win down the stretch.

Each side committed 17 turnovers. Wilmington was able to convert their takeaways in 18, while Post scored 8 points off turnovers. 

Jermaine Head, the CACC's leading scorer, recorded a double-double with 25 points (8-18 FG, 1-6 3PT, 8-10 FT) and 10 rebounds. 

Jordan Harding also recorded a double-double for the Wildcats with 23 points (8-15 FG, 5-8 3PT) and 14 rebounds.

Thomas Farrior led the Wildcats in scoring with 31 points (11-26 FG, 0-2 3PT, 9-11 FT) along with five rebounds. 

D.J. Jarrett scored 11 points in limited minutes after fouling out in second half. 

Darryl Stewart scored nine points and added five rebounds. 

Next up, the Eagles will travel to Caldwell, N.J. to take on Caldwell University at 7:30 p.m. on January 30.
