Eagles Snap Losing Streak; Beat Wilkes, 3-1

Shelton, Conn. - Three different Eagles scored as the Post University women's hockey team snapped a three-game losing streak, defeating Wilkes, 3-1 on Friday afternoon at the Sportscenter of Connecticut.

Post now sits at 5-13-0 on the season, while Wilkes remains winless at 0-11-0.

Sophomore Kayleigh Miller (Braselton, Ga.) got the scoring for the Eagles at the 10:10 mark in the first period, taking a pass from junior Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead on a power play. It was Miller's second goal of the season.

Wilkes answered with a power play goal of its own in the second period as Shauna Tubbs tied the game at the 5:44 mark in the second period.

Less than seven minutes later, senior Alana Lopez (Wolcott, Conn.) scored her second goal on a pass from junior Sierra Alaird (Cheyene, Wyo.). Alaird would use her vision one more time in the third period, as the Eagles added an insurance goal from sophomore Gwendolyn Lansky (Grass Lake, Mich) at the 5:48 mark in the third for her first goal of the season.

Allaird's two assists were a season-high. She has five on the season.

Freshman Kaitlyn Daly (Coquitlam, British Columbia) stopped 29 shots on goal, earning her second win of the season in net.

The Eagles won 46 of their 69 faceoffs, with Brumfield leading the way with a 19-1 record. Junior Julia Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) won 17 faceoffs.

Post took 39 shots on the day, with Miller and junior Kendall Fitzgerald (Kamloops, British Columbia) leading the way with seven.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at the Sportscenter of Connecticut at 4 p.m.
