Shelton, Conn. - The Post University women's hockey team scored two first period goals to set the tone in a 4-2 win over Wilkes on Saturday afternoon
It was the second straight win for the Eagles who beat Wilkes on Friday.
Junior
Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) got the scoring going early for the Eagles on a power play, taking a pass from sophomoreÂ
Kayleigh Miller (Braselton, Ga.)Â for her fourth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead at the 12:14 mark.
It didn't take long for the Eagles to build on that lead as sophomore
Kathleen Takita (Burrilville, R.I.) scored her second goal of the season that senior
Alana Lopez (Wolcott, Conn.) and junior
Kendall Fitzgerald (Kamloops, British Coumbia) assisted on at the 14:12 mark giving Post a 2-0 lead.
Wilkes got on the board at 12:51 in the second on a goal from Laurenne Fraser, but before the period ended, junior
Anna Estes (Whittier, Ca.) scored the Eagles second power play goal of the game off an assist from
Hannah Davis and Fitzgerald at 19:07.
Wilkes again made it a one goal game at the 3:34 mark in the third on a goal from Kendall Castro, but junior
Sierra Alaird (Cheyenne, Wyo.) took a pass from
Alana Lopez at the 8:02 mark to give the Eagles some insurance.
Kristin Smith had 27 saves on the day in net for the Eagles.. The Eagles won 39 of 63 faceofs, with Brumfield winning 18 of them. Junior
Julia Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) won 14. Post outshot Wilkes, 45-29.
The win puts the Eagles at 6-13 overall.
Up next, the Eagles take on Lebanon Valley on the road on January 16.
