Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) had 40 assists and classmate
Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif) had 18 kills as the Post University women's volleyball team defeated Nyack 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-20) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Friday evening.
With the win, the Eagles creep closer to .500 as they are 8-10 on the season and 5-2 in the CACC.
After the two teams split the first 20 points in the first set, the Eagles went on a 15-5 run to close it and take a 1-0 lead. During the run, Hunziker had six of her kills and junior
Shannon Veale (Toms River, N.J.) had three of her own. Root had assists for all but one of those nine kills during the run.
In set two, the Eagles trailed 2-0 early before going on another 15-5 run and coast to an easy set two victory senior
Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) had five kills during the stretch and six overall in the set. She finished the match with 12 kills.
In set three, Hunziker stamped her mark on the match with five kills as the Eagles only trailed briefly in the final frame at 5-4. Freshman
Rylie Arms (Gilbert, Ariz) had three of her seven kills in the final set.
Junior
Ann Marie Nelson (Draper, Utah) finished with four blocks in the match. Veale had three.
Megan Ma'afala led all Nyack players with nine kills. Rachel Medin had 19 assists. Nyack now sits at 6-10 overall and 5-3 in the CACC.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, as they have a home match against Chestnut Hill at 2 p.m. in the Drubner Center.
