Waterbury, Conn. - Senior
Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif) led three Eagles in double figures with 13 kills, as the Post University women's volleyball team topped Caldwell, 3-1 (27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-16) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Tuesday night.
With the win, the Eagles move to 7-10 on the season and 4-2 in the CACC.
Post fell behind 14-10 in the first set before rallying to take a 1-0 lead. Hunziker had four kills, including the first three points for the Eagles in the set.
The second set saw the Eagles take an early 8-3 lead before a rally by the Cougars eventually gave them a brief 22-21 lead before the Eagles rattled off the final four points, including a kill by Hunziker and an ace by sophomore
Suzy Boulay (Kingston, N.Y.).
The Eagles dropped the third set after falling behind 13-6 early in the set. Junior
Shannon Veale (Toms River, N.J.) had two aces in the set and freshman
Tatianna Rivas (Boca Raton, Fla.) added one.
In the fourth set, the Eagles jumped out to a 10-3 lead and coasted the rest of the way in the 25-16 win. Freshman
Rylie Arms (Gilbert, Ariz) had three aces and three kills. Hunziker had three kills as well.
Arms finished the day with 12 kills to go along with her three aces. Veale had 11 kills. Senior
Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) led all players with 46 assists, which was 18 more than her closest competitor.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACCÂ road match at Nyack on September 28 at 7 p.m.
