WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team improved to 8-12 overall and 6-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with two wins over Concordia at LaMoy Field on Thursday afternoon.
Senior
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI on the day to extended her hit streak to eight games and has now reached base in each of the last 13 games.
Game One – Post 7, Concordia 1
Sophomore
Brianna Koref (Springfield, N.J.) singled with out in the first. Schaffer crushed a ground-rule double to setup runners in scoring position. Freshman
Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) brought home the first run of the game as she reached on an error a third base.
Post broke the game open with four runs in the second. Junior
Kailyn Biello (Watertown, Conn.) reached on a dropped popup and sophomore
Skylar Devorin (Millville, Del.) was hit by a pitch with one out. Koref doubled down the line in right to bring home two runs. After Schaffer was plunked, Rivera crushed a two-run double to put the Eagles in front 5-0.
A leadoff triple led to a run for the Clippers in second. Post grabbed that run back in the fourth as Koref smacked another RBI double to bring home sophomore
Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) who had a base hit to start the frame. The Eagles added a run in the six as Koref came home on a throw to second to get Schaffer out attempting to steal.
Junior
Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) tossed a complete game to notch her fourth win of the year. She allowed five hits and struck out five. Koref went 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.
Game Two – Post 9, Concordia 3
Schaffer got things started for Post in the first inning of game two as she lined a single to right to bring home

Demi Rivera put two in scoring position, senior
Sara Selimovski (Watertown, Conn.) cleared the bases with a hit two center as Post led 3-0.
The Eagles added a run in the third on another caught stealing play as Biello, who had a two-out single in the inning, came home. Concordia scored all its runs in the third, one on a throwing error and two on a double to left to trim the deficit to 4-3.
Leyri Rivera legged out an infield single in the sixth. Schaffer continued to swing a hot bat as she launched the first pitch she saw for a homer to dead center to extend the lead to 6-3. Post scored three more in the seventh on a sacrifice fly and a two-run error.
Freshman
Leigha Goldsack (Rutherford, N.J.) improved to 3-2 on the year as she went the distance, allowing two earned runs and striking out five.
Post returns to action on Saturday afternoon at home against Chestnut Hill. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
