Game One – American International 2, Post 0
The Eagles allowed just one hit in the first game, but errors and walks allowed the Yellow Jackets to grab the win. Post put a runner at second in each of the first three innings and was unable to push across an early run. A one-out walk and a wild pitch gave AIC a runner in scoring position with one out in the third. The Yellow Jackets scored on a stolen base attempt to take a 1-0 lead.
Post walked in a run in the fourth for the second run. The Eagles threatened in the fifth as sophomore
Skylar Devorin (Millville, Del.) was hit by a pitch. Koref drove her over to second with two-out single up the middle before a flyout ended the inning. Post went down in order in the sixth and seventh.
Game Two – American International 7, Post 5
Koref doubled with one out in the first inning and two batters later freshman
Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) drove her in with a base hit to right to give the Eagles an early lead. Two walks and hit batter allowed the Yellow Jackets to tie the score in the second.
Post answered back in the third as a two-run double by Schaffer put the Eagles back in front. Sophomore
Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) also hit a double in the inning and later scored. She added another run in the fourth on a groundout to extend the Post lead to 4-1.
American International got one run back in the fourth and took the lead for good in the fifth, scoring four runs with two outs to make the score 6-4. The Yellow Jackets scored on an error in the sixth.
The Eagles looked to have a two-out rally of their own in the seventh as back-to-back doubles by Schaffer and
Demi Rivera cut the deficit to 7-5 but they were unable to complete the comeback.
Post returns home tomorrow afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
