HILLBURN, N.Y. – The Post University men's lacrosse team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road game at Dominican 12-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
Seniors
Frank Nichols Jr. (Carlsbad, Calf.) and
Dominick Parente (Monroe Township, N.J.) each had two goals. Sophomore
Corey Auten (Stratford, Conn.) tallied the other score for the Eagles.
Dominican scored first, but Post answered quickly as Parente tied the game with 10:08 to play. The Chargers stormed back with three straight goals and led 4-1 after one.
Despite being outshot 17-1 in the opening quarter, Post maintained its composure to start the second. The Eagles made the most of a man-up opportunity as Parente scored seconds into the quarter. Nichols Jr. cut the deficit to 4-3 with 10:15 remaining in the half. Auten assisted on the goal. Dominican responded with two of their own as it led 6-3 at the break.
Nichols Jr. would add his second goal in the final minute of the third quarter as the Eagles found themselves down 10-4. Auten added a goal late in the fourth.
Freshman Justin Nogueria (Southington, Conn.) picked up a team-high five ground balls. Sophomore goaltender
Manuele D'Alessio (Mount Laurel, N.J.) stopped 10 shots.
Post returns home on Saturday against Chestnut Hill. Face-off at LaMoy Field is set for 1 p.m.
