Orangeburg, N.Y.– The Post University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday evening to Dominican, 3-0 and 10-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup.
In game one, junior Rosario Missiti (Belmont, Mass.) went 3-for-4, including a triple in the loss. The Eagles (14-12, 6-4 CACC) best opportunity to score in the game was in the top of the fifth as they loaded the bases with two outs, but couldn't convert. Junior John Cartagena Jr. (Danbury, Conn.), and freshman Miguel De Los Santos (Clifton, N.J.) both had hits in the inning.
Starting freshman pitcher Mike Lisinicchia (Stamford, Conn.) pitched well, going five innings, giving up two runs – both earned – on two hits, three walks while striking out two.
The Chargers scored a run apiece in the third, fifth, and seventh inning.
In game two, the Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the lead didn't last long in the 10-1 loss.
Freshman Connor Kolich (Mahwah, N.J.) doubled with one out in the first inning before junior Tyler Pavone (River Vale, N.J.) doubled with two outs to score Kolich to give the Eagles the early lead.
Dominican (10-18, 8-3 CACC) followed with two runs in both the first and second innings, and were able to put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Noah Meeks (Danbury, Conn.), a freshman, struck out five in three innings, while giving up five runs on six hits and three walks.
Justin Decker led the way for the Chargers going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Up next for the Eagles is a home doubleheader against Nyack on April 13 beginning at noon.
