WATERBURY, Conn.  – The Post University softball team was defeated by #21 Southern New Hampshire in two games on Thursday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Penmen took the first game 13-0 and the second 6-2.
 
The Eagles couldn't get anything going offensively in game one and were held hitless until the fourth inning when senior 
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) crushed a double off the wall in right center. Post nearly scored a run in the inning, but sophomore 
Brianna Koref (Springfield, N.J.) was thrown out at the plate.
 
Game two started like the first as Southern New Hampshire scored on in the second and four more in the third to pull in front 5-0. Schaffer tallied the Eagles' first hit again in the fourth inning.
 
A single by freshman 
Megan McCormack (Franklin Square, N.Y.) opened the fifth inning. Freshman 
Avery Kelly (New Milford, Conn.) drove her home on a base hit to center field to cut the deficit to 6-1. Two batters later Kelly scored on a fielder's choice by freshman 
Brittany Giordano (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).
 
The Eagles return to action on Saturday morning at Georgian Court. First pitch of game one is set for 10 a.m.
