CLERMONT, Fla. – The Post University softball team dropped a pair of one-run games on Tuesday in Clermont, Fla. The Eagles were defeated by Bridgeport 7-6 to begin the day and lost 3-2 to Sioux Falls in the afternoon. Post finishes its trip down south tomorrow.

Megan McCormack (Franklin Square, N.Y.) smacked a double to right as the Eagles pulled ahead 2-0.
Bridgeport scored three runs on four hits in the third to jump in front 3-2. Senior
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the frame and came home to score on an error to tie the game.
Gabryelle Dubois began the fourth with a home run to left and the Purple Knights added two more to jump ahead 6-3. Sophomore
Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) answered in the bottom as she crushed her first-career home run to trim the deficit to two runs. Bridgeport scored once in the fifth and led 7-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Rivera hit an infield single to start the Eagles' half of the sixth and scored on a double by Schaffer. Schaffer cut the deficit to 7-6 as she came home on an error by the Purple Knights' left fielder.
McCormack hit a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh but the Eagles were unable to tie the score.
Post recorded a season-best 11 hits as four Eagles had multi-hit games.
Sioux Falls 3, Post 2
Freshman
Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) homered with one out in the top of the first to give Post an early lead. Unfortunately, the lead did not last long as Sioux Falls scored three times in the bottom of the first to jump ahead.
Freshman
Cassidy Petrie (Staten Island, N.Y.) double to left with one out in the second. Junior
Kailyn Biello (Watertown, Conn.) followed with a single to put runners at the corners.
Leyri Rivera grounded out, but Petrie came home to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Sioux Falls threatened to add some insurance in the fifth as it loaded the bases with one out, but the Eagles were able to get out of the inning on two ground outs. McCormack singled to right to start the sixth and pinch runner senior
Amanda Ely (Pittsfield, Mass.) advanced to third, but was stranded there.
The Eagles got out of another jam in the sixth as Sioux Falls but runners at second and third with just one out. Freshman
Bridget Betley (Fairfield, Conn.) tossed a strikeout and then forced a flyout to send the game into the seventh.
Biello, who went 3-for-3, and
Leyri Rivera smacked base hits with one out to give Post life in the seventh, but the next two batters struck out to end the game.
Betley pitched well in relief as she allowed just two hits and struck out two in four innings of work.
Post wraps its spring break trip with two games tomorrow. The Eagles will play Bloomsburg at 9 a.m. and California (Pa.) at 11:30 a.m.
