Eagles Defeat St. Michael’s 2-0, Fall to Lock Haven

Koref throws complete game shutout

CLERMONT, Fla.  – The Post University softball team earned its first victory of the year 2-0 over St. Michael's on Monday morning in Clermont, Fla. The Eagles were no-hit in the second game of the day an 8-0 loss to Lock Haven.

Post 2, St. Michael's 0
Sophomore Brianna Koref (Springfield, N.J.) tossed a complete-game shutout as Post defeated St. Michael's 2-0 for its first win of the season.

The Eagles got all the offense they needed in the first inning. Sophomore Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) reached on an error with one out. Freshman Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) drove her in for the first run on base hit. Senior Sara Selimovski (Watertown, Conn.) made the score 2-0 as she doubled to left field. Those would be the only two hits Post had in the game.

Every time the Purple Knights had a baserunner, the Eagles turned a double play to end the threat. Post recorded three double plays in the game to keep St. Michael's off the board.

Koref allowed six hits, three walks, and struck out one in the victory.

Lock Haven 8, Post 0, F/6
The Eagles could never get their bats going in the second game of the day as they were held hitless. Demi Rivera and juniors Leslie Denis (Swansea, Mass.) and Kailyn Biello (Watertown, Conn.) were the only players to reach base as all three drew walks.

Lock Haven scored one in the first, three in the third, and added four in the sixth to grab the win via the run rule.

Post returns to action tomorrow morning against Bridgeport at 9 a.m. and follows with Sioux Falls at 11:30 a.m.
