Men’s Hockey Falls to Southern New Hampshire

Lugo scores in third straight game

HOOKSETT, N.H.  – The Post University men's ice hockey team was defeated by Southern New Hampshire 9-3 on the road Friday night at The Ice Den in Hooksett, N.H. The Eagles and Penmen will finish their weekend series in Shelton tomorrow night.
 
The first period was tight as the Eagles fell behind 1-0 despite getting outshot 19-8 in the frame. Freshman Brandon Brown (Manassas, Va.) made 18 of his 37 saves in the first.
 
Southern New Hampshire added five goals in the second until sophomore Noah Wild (Wading River, N.Y.) put the Eagles on the board in the final minute to make the score 6-1. Freshman Costa Pizanis (Baltimore, Md.) tallied an assist on the goal. Wild has recorded a point in the last four games.
 
The Eagles held an 11-9 advantage in shots in the third period and scored twice. Junior Brian Hurley (Long Beach, N.Y.) added his fifth goal of the year on a power-play with 12:03 to go. Freshman Evan Lugo (Sandy Hook, Conn.) scored his fourth goal in the last three games later in the period to cut the deficit to 7-3.
 
Sophomore Lucas Smith (Calgary, Alberta), freshman Kieran Hurley (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Wild each had assists on the night.
 
The two teams wrap up the season series in Shelton on Saturday night at 8:30.
