Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Down 14, Eagles Rally Late To Stun Pace, 88-80

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University men's basketball team rallied from a 14-point second half deficit behind 25 points from junior D.J. Jarrett (Waterbury, Conn.) as it defeated Pace, 88-80 in a non-conference game at the Drubner Center.

Pace (9-4, 4-2 NE-10) was leading 57-43 with 14:05 remaining, but a pair of free-throws from senior Darryl Stewart (Atlanta, Ga.) sparked a 32-16 run, capped by a three-pointer from Jarrett to give the Eagles a 75-73 lead with 3:43 left in the game. Jarrett scored 14 points during the run, including seven straight. Jarrett hit two of his four three-pointers during the run and  freshman Abdul-Basit Ajia (Pawtucket, R.I.) hit a three-pointer during the run.

Pace would tie it one more time at 75-75, but the Eagles (3-9, 0-3 CACC) finished with a 13-5 run as back-to-back baskets by junior Tyshon Rogers (Waterbury, Conn.) put the game away.

The first half was a tight affair as no one had a lead bigger than four points. The Eagles took a 34-33 lead thanks to a three-pointer by Jarrett with 34 seconds left. Rogers had six of his 16 points in the first half. Junior Marcus Johnson (Evanston, Ill.) scored seven and Jarrett had eight points in the first half.

Ajia finished the game with a double-double, scoring ten points and grabbing ten rebounds. Rogers also had six rebounds and three assists and Johnson pulled down five rebounds to go with his 11 points.

The Eagles bench outscored Pace, 45-9 led by Jarrett's 25 points.  The Eagles also converted their 18 offensive rebounds to 23 points.

The Eagles kick off 2019 with a road game at Nyack on January 2 at 7:30 p.m.
