Post University Sprint Football finished the season 1-6 but received notable contributions from many players
Matt Terlizzi (Senior, Linebacker - Watertown, CT)
The eagles senior linebacker put together a tremendous season in 2018. Terlizzi compiled 77 total tackles (40 solo, 37 assists) which led the Collegiate Sprint Football League. Terlizzi also had 3.5 tackles for loss and 1 sack. Terlizzi's non-stop motor paid off not only in the tackle department, but he also recovered 2 fumbles, second most in the league.Â
LaDarrius Phillips (Senior, Wide Receiver - Tuscaloosa, AL)
Phillips had a productive season at his primary position of WR and as a return man. Phillips ranked 9th overall in the CSFL with 84.1 all-purpose yards a game (19 rushing, 168 receiving, 12 on punt return and 390 on kickoff returns). Phillips 390 kickoff return yards ranked tops in the league and his long of 60 yards was also one of the longest returns in the league this season.Â
Buddy Enriquez (Senior, Quarterback - Sacramento, CA)
The do-it-all quarterback not only ranked in the top ten passing yards per game, but he converted on 9 of 9 PATs and was 1 of 2 field goals. As a QB, Enriquez threw for 599 yards, completing 69 of 150 passes.Â
Terrance Wilcox (Freshmen, Tight End - Marrero, LA)
Wilcox was called upon to become the team's punter just before the first game of the season, thrusting him into a spot that he wasn't expecting to be in. The freshmen from Louisiana embraced the role and finished the season as the league's 5th best punter. Wilcox compiled 1,346 total punt yards on 41 punts, a 33.3 yard average. 6 punts landed inside the 20 yard line and 1 punt traveled over 50 yards.Â
Cody Borges (Freshmen, Defensive Back - Buford, GA)
Freshmen DB from Georgia Cody Borges had the best season of any secondary player for the eagles. His 4 pass breakups ranked tops in the league. Borges also lead the eagles in interceptions with 3. Â
Cameron Francette (Sophomore, Linebacker - Houston, TX)
Despite missing a solid portion of the season to injury, Cameron Francette ranked 4th in the CSFL with 8.2 tackles per game. The sophomore captain tallied 33 total tackles in only 4 games played.Â
Zavian Arroyo (Freshmen, Linebacker - Meriden, CT)
Zavian Arroyo's motor was non-stop this season. Arroyo collected 4 sacks which ranked top ten in the CSFL. Arroyo also had 7 tackles for a loss, ranking 15th in the league.Â
All in all, Coach Joe Newman and the eagles have a lot to build off and look forward to going into the 2019 Sprint Football season. There will be holes to fill with Enqiruez, Phillips and Terlizzi departing the team as seniors, but the young talent on this team proved to have playmaking ability.Â
