Men’s Basketball Unable to Overcome Slow Start Against Bridgeport

Box Score

12954The Eagles were able to score over 100 points for second straight game, something they haven't done a single time past four years. Unfortunately, 29 turnovers turned into 34 Bridgeport points which made it difficult for Post to overcome an early 17 point deficit.

The second half looked much better than the first. In the second, Post scored 60 points on 58% shooting from the field. The long ball was clicking as well. Post shot 7-10 from 3PT compared to 3-8 in the first half. The Eagles took better care of the ball in the second half by cutting turnovers down from 19 to 10.

Things got interesting with about 4:30 remaining in the game when the Eagles were able to cut the lead to five, a lead that once reached 21 points earlier in the second half. The Knights quickly answered with a three pointer to extend the lead back to eight. This would be as close as the game would get.

The Eagles were led in scoring by Tyshon Rogers (21) and Dwight Felton (20). The two combined to go 14-17 from the line but also turned the ball over 17 times. Rogers added seven rebounds, two assists and a steal. Felton mixed in three assists and a steal.

Marcus Johnson played a productive 17 minutes off the bench. The freshmen scored 16 points on 7-11 from the field with three blocks and four rebounds.

Jorge Torres led the Eagles with nine rebounds in 22 minutes of play and Raven Owen hit three 3's for the second consecutive game.
