Men's Soccer Wins Pivotal Match Against Georgian Court, 3-2

What and Where: Georgian Court vs. Post, Men's Soccer at Waterbury, Conn.

The men's soccer team won its fourth straight match against one of the top teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Georgian Court.

With the win, the Eagles now sit at 8-6-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the CACC, just behind the Lions of Georgian Court who sit at 12-4 overall and 8-3 in the CACC.

With the game tied at 1-1, sophomore Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) put home his 11th goal of the season to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute. Classmate Alvaro Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) would provide a much needed insurance goal in the 83rd minute, taking a pass from Diaz to make it a 3-1 game. The Lions added one more goal in the 89th minute from Joel Quist.

Things To Know
  • Diaz's 11 goals puts him third in the CACC. It is the third straight game he has scored a goal, including a hat trick against Nyack in a 9-0 win on October 17. He now has 35 points on the season which is tops in the CACC, seven more than Jefferson's Jason Rocha.
  • Diaz also had a team-high six shots on the day giving him 62 on the season, which leads the CACC.
  • The goal from Sanchez was his seventh on the season, and was also the third straight game he has scored. 
  • Freshman Phillimon Bedard-Khalid scored his fifth goal of the season in the 34th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
  • Freshman Fredrik Pedersen had seven saves on the day, his second highest total of the season. He had eight against Dominican in a 4-1 win on October 9. He is fourth in the CACC in goals against average at 1.30.
