PITTSTON, Pa. – Two goals by freshman
Ann Margaret DiSciscio (Litchfield, N.H.) helped lead the Post University women's ice hockey team to a 3-1 victory over King's College on Tuesday afternoon at the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, Pa.
DiSciscio put the Eagles in front 1-0 with 5:21 to go in the first period as she pushed a wrap-around past the Monarch goaltender Emma Zeveney. Sophomore
Kendall Fitzgerald (Kamloops, British Columbia) had the assist on the score.
King's would tie the score in the first minute of the second period with a goal by Caitlin Reddin. The Eagles took the lead for good late in the second as DiSciscio took the puck a center ice off a pass from freshman
Paige Dundas (La Broquerie, Manitoba), deked a defender in a one-on-one and scored. Freshman Savannah Stevenson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) also had a helper on the go-ahead goal.
Stevenson launched a shot from the blue line to score her first-career goal with 7:15 remaining in the game. Post outshot the Monarchs 36-20, including a 16-1 margin in the third.
Sophomore goaltender
Jenna Baumgartner (Roseau, Minn.) made 19 stops to earn her first collegiate victory.
The Eagles look to earn a victory at home this weekend as they host Franklin Pierce for a two-game series beginning Friday at 4:45 p.m. at the Rinks at Shelton.
