WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team fell to Goldey-Beacom 86-71 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at the Drubner Center Saturday afternoon. Senior
Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) led the Eagles with 24 points on the day.
The Eagles took a 69-66 lead with 6:52 to go after two free throws by senior
Joseph Lockwood (London, England), but would not score again until there was 1:31 to play as the Lightning used a 20-0 run to grab the victory.
Post fell behind 11-2 out of the gate, but used a 20-5 run to jump in front 22-16 at the 7:42 mark of the first. The Eagles hit four straight from distance, two by freshman
Darrick Boyd (Springfield, Mass.), to help build the lead. Lockwood had five of his 10 points during the stretch. He also finished with a season-high 13 rebounds for his third double-double.
Goldey-Beacom would come back to tie the score, but the Post answered and took a 36-30 lead into halftime.
The Eagles maintained their lead throughout most of the second half and never trailed by more than a point until the game-deciding run by the Lightning.
Boyd scored 18 points to go with four rebounds. Post tied a season-best with 11 made three-pointer, as Desrosiers and Boyd combined for nine. Freshman
Jaylen Washington (Frederick, Md.) added six points and seven boards.
Post returns to action on Tuesday night at Nyack. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
