PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Three Eagles finished in double figures as the Post University men's basketball team won a 67-55 game over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Holy Family on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. Post has now won three of its last four games.
The first half was back and forth and featured six lead changes. Each team led by as many as five points, but Post was able score the final six points of the half to take a 33-26 lead into halftime.
Holy Family came out hot to start the second, scoring the first 13 points of the half to take its largest lead of the game at 39-33. The Eagles began to chip away at the deficit and free throws by freshman
Jaylen Washington (Frederick, Md.) tied the game 53-53 with 8:11 to go.
Post took control from there as it held the Tigers scoreless over the next seven minutes and built a 14-point lead before Holy Family scored the final basket of the game. Junior
Tamas Okros (Bristol, England) and senior
Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) each scored four points down the stretch.
Desrosiers led the Eagles with 15 points and 10 rebounds, his first double-double of the year. Freshman
Daniel Cabassa (Bronx, N.Y.) added 11 points. Washington finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Senior
Joseph Lockwood (London, England) grabbed 10 boards to go with eight points. Okros had seven points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles controlled the glass as they pulled down a season-high 51 rebounds. Post is now 5-1 when recording at least 40 rebounds.
Post will take a break from conference play as its visits Merrimack on Thursday in its final non-league game of the year. Tip-off from North Andover, Mass. is set for 7 p.m.
