SHELTON, Conn.  – The Post University men's ice hockey team fell to Franklin Pierce 5-2 on Saturday night at the SportsCenter of Connecticut in Shelton. Freshman
Anthony Giacomin (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and sophomore
Lucas Smith (Calgary, Alberta) scored for the Eagles.

The Ravens scored first with a goal just 2:58 into the game, but the lead didn't last long as Giacomin tied the score just under two minutes later. Each team had a power play chance later in the first but were unable to convert as the score remained 1-1 into intermission.

Franklin Pierce came out firing the second period and scored twice early to open a 3-1 lead. Back-to-back penalties by the Ravens gave Post a 5-on-3 with 3:25 remaining. The Eagles quickly took advantage as sophomore
Noah Wild (Wading River, N.Y.) found Smith to cut the deficit to one heading into the third period.

Cameron Shepardson made the score 4-2 early in the third. The Eagles were unable to convert on any of their three power play opportunities down the stretch and the Ravens added an empty net goal for the final margin.

Wild assisted on both Eagles' goals while freshman
Brenden Sand (Whitesboro, N.Y.) added his first helper of the year.

Post is back at home on Tuesday night against Southern New Hampshire. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
