Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) scored on a penalty kick, in the first half for an early lead, but the Post University women's soccer team lost in overtime 2-1 to Jefferson University at LaMoy Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
The Eagles are 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the CACC.
In the 27th minute, the Rams were called for a handball inside the box, leading to the second goal of the season for Mertz.
However, just before the half ended, in the 43rd minute, Jessica Monteleone put one past freshman
Hannah Richards (Huddersfield, England) to tie the game going into the half.
The teams went scoreless in the second half as Richards stopped shot after shot from the Rams to send the game into overtime.Â
But in the 97th minute, Brooke Haden put a low shot past Richards for the game winner.
Richards finished with seven saves on the day. Mertz lead the team with five shots. Freshman
Fenna Maarse (Hilversum, Netherlands) had two. Both teams had two corner kicks on the day.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACC road game at Nyack at 7 p.m. on September 12.
