Nyack, N.Y. – Senior
Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) scored in the 89
th minute and
Sam Rodriguez added her first goal of the season as the Post University women's soccer team won its first game of the season, 2-1 against Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Tuesday evening.
Mertz's goal in the came off of a scramble on a free kick from freshman
Fenna Maarse (Hilversum, Netherlands). The goal was the third on the season for Mertz.
After the Eagles (1-4, 1-1 CACC) fell behind 1-0 in the 51
st minute on a goal from Nyack's Alexia Missett, senior
Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) took a shot out from 20 yards out for her first goal of the season in the 57
th minute.
The two teams went scoreless in the first half as the Eagles outshot the Warriors 10-4 in the first 45 minutes. The Eagles outshot Nyack for the game, 19-11.
Freshman
Hannah Richards (Huddersfield, England) had yet another solid game in net, stopping four shots. Greta Enloe had six saves for Nyack (0-6, 0-1 CACC).
