Eagles’ Volleyball Grabs 3-0 Victory at Concordia

Post sweeps opponent for first time this season

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Post University women's volleyball team (4-8, 2-1 CACC) defeated Concordia 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match in Bronxville, N.Y. on Friday night. The victory was the Eagles' first shutout of the year.

Post fell behind 5-4 to start the first set, but never trailed again on its way to a 25-19 win. Freshman Ashley Levatino (Holtsville, N.Y.) scored back-to-back kills as part of a 5-1 run by the Eagles to take a 13-8 lead and force a Concordia timeout. She added another kill late in the set to give Post its largest lead at 22-15. Juniors Sarah Seger (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Madison Hunziker (Sacramento, Calif.) led Post with five kills each in the first set.

With the score tied at one early in the second, Post reeled off six straight points, but Concordia followed with eight straight to grab a 9-7 lead. The teams traded leads from there until a 4-0 run by the Eagles gave them a 17-14 lead, one they would not relinquish. Levatino, who finished with seven kills, landed the final point to give Post a 25-20 victory.

The Eagles had an impressive hitting percentage of .609 in the final set as they rolled to a 25-11 win. Hunziker had five kills while freshman Kyla Knight (Seabrook, Texas) added four in the victory.

Overall, Hunziker led the Eagles with 15 kills and hit a season high .520. Seger added nine kills, two aces, and three blocks. Knight posted a team-high nine digs to go with seven kills. Junior Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) recorded 39 assists and is now just 69 away from becoming the third Eagle ever to record 3,000 career assists.
