Waterbury, Conn. - Sophomore Hope Wilson (Mahopac, N.Y.) had a hat trick in the second half and senior Angela Ciaramella (Hamden, Conn.) had two assists as the Post University women's soccer team came away with a dominating 5-0 win over Concordia in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
The win puts the Eagles at 2-5 overall, and more importantly, 2-1 in the CACC.
Post got on the board early and never looked back as Ciaramella put a cross through the box to sophomore Fitore Kllobocishta (Watertown, Conn.) who put it past goalkeeper Christina Majdanski for the 1-0 lead.
Nearing the end of the first half, Ciaramella placed a through ball right to the foot of freshman Fenna Maarse (Hilversum, Netherlands) who put home an easy goal to make it a 2-0 game.
Wilson, who had two opportunities stopped in the first half, came alive in the second, taking a pass from Maarse who dribbled down 20 yards through defenders to put home her first goal of the game in the 57th minute.Â
Six minutes later, Wilson beat her defender one on one and put the ball through the lower right side to make it a 4-0 game.Â
The icing on the cake came on the next possession - and 28 seconds later - as Wilson dribbled down the left side and bent a shot from a near impossible angle into the back of the net for her third and final goal of the game.
Wilson led the Eagles with six shots on the day, five of them on goal. Maarse had four shots. The Eagles, as a team outshot the Clippers, 21-13. Freshman Hannah Richards (Huddersfield, England) had a sensational day in net, stopping nine shots.Â
Up next for the Eagles is another CACC home game against Chestnut Hill on September 23 at noon.
