Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) connected on a set piece from just outside the top of the box in the 86
th minute to give the Post University men's soccer team a 2-1 victory in its season-opener over NYIT at LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon.
Neither team could gain an edge in the first half. Junior
Andre Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) had an early chance on a set piece, but was denied by Bears' keeper Jonathan Rico. NYIT held a slim 7-6 advantage in shot in the first, but each team had three chances on goal.
A turnover by the Eagles on their defensive side of the field led to the first goal of the game by Alberto Marchan in the 62
nd minute to put NYIT up 1-0. Post quickly answered in the 63
rd to tie the game up as Diaz found sophomore
Gabriel Aguilar (Stamford, Conn.) ahead of the defense. Rico was able to get a finger on the shot, but it found the back of the net.

Kenu Walker (Kingston, Jamaica) was tipped over the crossbar. Graduate student
Najja Forbes (Trinidad & Tobago) headed a shot off the bar on the ensuing corner kick. Minutes later a foul by the Bears led to the game-winner by Diaz.
Senior goalkeeper
Giovanni Riello (Sao Paul, Brazil) made a game-high seven saves in goal.
