MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's tennis team improved to 3-0 for the first time in program history with a 5-4 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas at Edgewood Bath & Tennis on Wednesday afternoon.
Post grabbed two points in doubles. The No. 1 duo of seniors
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and
Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) defeated Lovisa Engstrand and Sara O'Brien 8-5. Juniors
Juliana Seabra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) also grabbed a victory at No. 3 over Katarina Lopez and Carolyn Kopf 8-3.
At No. 1 singles, Dubrovskaya made quick work of Endgstrand with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Freshman
Annika Janson (Seeon, Germany) earned a point at No. 2, defeating Cassandra Rohr, 6-3, 6-0. Namazi grabbed a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6 to give the Eagles the match.
The Eagles visit LIU Post on Friday. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
