Sparkill, N.Y. - The Post University women's soccer team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half, but fell to St. Thomas Aquinas 4-3 in overtime in the team's first game of the season.
Freshman
Fenna Maarse Hilversum, Netherlands) got the scoring going for the Eagles in the seventh minute, after putting the ball past St. Thomas Aquinas goalkeeper Courtney Dumain to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead, and her first goal of her Post career. Sophomore

Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) scored her first goal of the campaign – and 19
th of her career – to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead, one which they would hold going into halftime.
St. Thomas Aquinas scored early and often in the beginning of the second half as Victoria DiMarco, Mekenzi Moreau and Kathryn Kerrigan scored in the 52
nd, 55
th and 57
th minutes respectively to give the Spartans the 3-2 lead.
Running out of time, the Eagles tied the game in the 88
th minute as freshman
Imelda Lazaro (Norwalk, Conn.) took a pass from Maarse and hit a 35 yard rocket in to the top corner to tie the game and put it into overtime.
Overtime didn't last long, as Moreau put away her second goal of the game to give the Spartans the victory.
Junior
Cailah Baranowski (Naugatuck, Conn.) had one save on the day in 64 minutes of play. Kllobocishta and Mertz each had three shots on the day.
Up next for the Eagles is their first home game of the season, as they host Saint Michael's at LaMoy Field on Sunday, September 3 at noon.
