Blackman Scores Five as Eagles Slay Lions 13-4

Post improves to 4-6 on the year

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Post University men's lacrosse team scored the first seven goals of the day as it rolled to a 13-4 win over Georgian Court on Saturday afternoon in Lakewood, N.J. Senior Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) scored three times in the first half and finished with five goals.
 
Freshman Ben Price (Eden Prairie, Minn.) forced a turnover off the opening faceoff and moments later junior Frank Nichols Jr. (Oceanside, Calif.) put the Eagles in front 1-0 on his ninth goal of the year. Post continued to control the game offensively as senior Luke McDermott (New Milford, Conn.) and Blackman also scored before the Lions had their first possession.
 
The Eagles outshot the Lions 15-6 and led 3-0 after the opening quarter. Junior Paul Hylan (Clinton, Conn.) added to the lead to start the second. A turnover by Georgian Court led to a goal from senior Mitchell Kinney (Hemlock, N.Y.) with 3:27 to go until the half. Blackman made the score 7-0 at the break as he scored twice down the stretch, including a score just as time expired.
 
Georgian Court grabbed momentum to start the second half, scoring three goals to trim the deficit to 7-3. Post answered with three of its own, two from senior Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) to close out the third ahead 10-3.
 
Nichols, Blackman, and freshman Corey Auten (Stratford, Conn.) tallied goals for the Eagles in the fourth.
 
Post had a season-high 52 shots, 31 on goal and picked up 37 ground balls. Price finished with six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Blackman had seven ground balls and a team-high 11 shots. Senior Shane Trost (Rochester, N.Y.) made 11 saves on the day.
 
The Eagles get an extended break before their next game on Wednesday, April 19 at home against LIU Post. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
