NYACK, N.Y. – The Post University softball team was swept in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Nyack on Wednesday. Senior
Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) hit her third homer of the season in a 5-3 game one loss. The Eagles managed just one hit in a 3-0 game two defeat.
GAME ONE: Nyack 5, Post 3
Kresley crushed a solo shot with one out in the third inning to put the Eagles ahead 1-0. The lead did not last long as a two-run double followed by a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning gave Nyack at 5-1 advantage.
Freshman
Skylar Devorin (Millville, Del.) hit a lead off single to right in the fourth. She later came home to score on a double by senior
Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.). Devorin began the sixth with another hit and scored on an RBI double by senior
Jessica Grzywna (Philadelphia, Pa.).
The Eagles brought the go-ahead run to the plate after two-out hits by junior
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) and Devorin, but were unable to draw closer.
Kresley and Devorin each finished the day with three hits.
GAME TWO: Nyack 3, Post 0
A two-run homer by Nicole Wisse in the first inning is all the Warriors needed in game two. Senior
Kristen Owens (Exton, Pa.) smacked her first triple of the year in the fourth for the Eagles' only hit of the game.
Owens reached base again in the six on an error by the Nyack third baseman. Kresley followed with a walk, but they would be the final baserunners for Post.
The Eagles return to LaMoy Field on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Wilmington.
