ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Post University softball team dropped both games in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader at Dominican on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles fell 3-1 in the opener and 9-1 to close the day. Senior
Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit her eighth home run of the year, the 21
st of her career to move into second place all-time.
Post was held hitless for the first three innings of game one, meanwhile the Chargers took a 1-0 lead. Senior
Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) put the Eagles in the hit column with a single up the middle in the fourth. Two hits by Dominican in the bottom of the frame made the score 2-0.
Ragazzone crushed an 0-2 pitch over the wall in left-center to lead off the fifth and put the Eagles on the board. Freshman
Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) followed with a single, but Post was unable to advance her past first. Dominican added its final run in the sixth.
A single by junior
Emily Schaffer (Hazlet, N.J.) in the top of the first in game two put runners at the corners with two outs, but the Eagles could not push a run across. The Chargers scored three in the third and two in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
Kresley doubled down the line in right to open the sixth. Schaffer followed with her third hit of the game as the Eagles once again had runners at the corners. Rivera drove home the Eagles only run on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. Dominican won the game with four runs on five hits in the sixth.
Post returns home on Saturday for a twin-bill against Bloomfield. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
