MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team defeated Bloomfield on Saturday night 9-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference road match. The Eagles opened their home schedule on Sunday with a 9-0 loss to NCAA Division I Wagner.
Against Bloomfield, the No. 1 doubles team of junior
Nikola Crvelin (Kaštel Lukšic, Croatia) and sophomore
Ivan Rajevac (Dubrovnik, Croatia) needed a tiebreaker to take their match against Vadim Kustov and Ville Heikkilae 9-8 (7-2). Sophomore
Peter Rossel (Vienna, Austria) and freshmen
Joe Alvord (Southbury, Conn.) grabbed an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Crvelin defeated Kustov in straight sets at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2. Rajevac won his match at No. 2 6-3, 6-1 over Heikkilae. Junior
Ludvig Henrikson (Taby, Sweden) took down Thulani Hove 6-3, 7-5 (10-8).
Freshmen
Samuel Urban (Košice, Slovakia) and sophomore
Cole Nelson (Wolcott, Conn.) both won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Alvord grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Crvelin and Rajevac nearly took down Wagner's top doubles duo of Anatoliy Lashkul and Dale Sady but were defeated 9-7. Alvord played tough in No. 6 singles, falling to Ilya Kneppelhout 6-3, 6-4.
Post is back in action at Edgewood Bath and Tennis in Middlebury on Wednesday in a CACC match against Caldwell. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
