MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team secured the second seed in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament with a 6-3 victory over Philadelphia in its final conference game of the year on Saturday afternoon.
The No. 1 doubles team of juniors
Nikola Crvelin (Kaštel Lukšic, Croatia) and
Ludvig Henrikson (Taby, Sweden) won their fourth straight match with an 8-2 win over Luis Molina Megias and Oskar Haedicke. Sophomore
Peter Rossel (Vienna, Austria) and freshman
Samuel Urban (Košice, Slovakia) took down Sean DeBlasio and Jacobo Atri 8-5 at No. 2.
Crvelin made quick work of Megias 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Urban defeated Liviu Trifol 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. At No. 4, Rossel won in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 over Atril and freshman
Joe Alvord (Southbury, Conn.) defeated Joseph Sison in a second-set tiebreaker 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
The Eagles are currently ranked fifth in the NCAA East Regional Rankings heading into their final match of the season on Tuesday at Saint Thomas Aquinas. The top seven in the region earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. First serve in Sparkill, N.Y. is set for 3 p.m.
