WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's lacrosse team lost its second straight game on Wednesday afternoon at home 19-1 to Assumption. Junior
Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) scored the lone goal for the Eagles.
Post fell behind 2-0 early, but a turnover by the Greyhounds led to an offensive chance for the Eagles. Deren was fouled on her way to the goal and scored her third of the season on the ensuing free-position attempt to cut the deficit to one.
The Eagles had a chance for another free-position goal in the second half as a shot by junior
Savannah Schwack (Manorville, N.Y.) was saved by the Greyhounds' keeper.
Senior
Brina Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) played well defensively with team highs of five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Deren grabbed five draw controls to lead the Eagles. Freshman
Alana Lopez (Wolcott, Conn.) made eight saves in goal.
Post returns to action at LaMoy Field on Saturday, March 11 against American International. The Eagles will play in support of Coaches vs. Cancer and dedicating the game to loved ones who are battling or have battled cancer.
